Restaurants in Bangkok

There is no shortage of excellent restaurants in Bangkok and obviously the hundreds of amazing street food stalls. Given how spread out Bangkok is, it will really depend on where you are staying as to where you go. A selection of food stall / restaurants that I visited are set out below.

Long Table Bangkok (Sukhumvit)

Situated in the vibrant Sukhumvit district is Long Table Bangkok, a rooftop bar and restaurant located on the 25th floor of Ratchada Road’s Column Building.

Buddy Beer Wine Bar and Seafood Restaurant (Khao San Road)

Tucked in off the main Khao San Road strip is Buddy Beer with a large courtyard setting serving mainly Thai food.

We had Khao Phad Gai – fried rice with pork and the Phad See Moo – stir fried wide noodle with chicken and vegetable, which were both 110 baht. The meal plus an amazing frozen strawberry daiquiri and large Singha beer was around 450 baht (£10).

The food was nothing special (but absolutely edible and fine) but the setting was relaxed and reasonably priced with the benefit of being slightly off the main strip.

Baan ThaTien Café (Wat Pho)

Baan ThaTien is a lovely café (only a 5 minute walk from Wat Pho) with an informal setting serving a range of Thai dishes with long benches and cushions. We had Pad Thai with Chicken which was 80 baht and Stir Fried Chicken with garlic for 60 Baht.

The food with two cokes was only 200 baht which is around £5 – an absolute bargain. Definitely recommended Baan ThaTien if you are sightseeing around the area.

Street Food

In Bangkok, there is plenty of it! Ranging from fresh fruit to meat skewers, the street food world in Bangkok is amazing and so convenient if you such want a quick bite to see you through to lunch or dinner at a reasonable price. We loved wandering around Chinatown and sampling lots of great food! This is also the best way to try new dishes as, if you don’t like them, you can just try something different and not break the bank!
