BARS IN TULUM
South along the hotel zone road is Hemingways Cabanas. It was rather quiet when we arrived in the evening but it had some beautiful cabanas and seats on the beach which would be lovely during the day.
A little pricier than some of the bars for a beer and cocktail but lovely surroundings and rather romantic!
Batey Mojito Bar
This mojito bar in downtown Tulum is a favourite in all books and blogs so I had to check it out. With a VW beetle in the bar where they cut the ginger for the mojitos and store alcohol, Batey is a cool bar in Tulum with live music and, unsurprisingly a decent selection of mojitos which are all around 120 pesos.
We had the classico and the ginger mojito which were really tasty and the staff were lovely. Definitely a must visit when in Tulum!
Pasito Tun Tun
Pretty much opposite Batey is Pasito Tun Tun with two swings outside and a spacious interior.
Obviously I had to sit on the swing sipping on cocktails of Mango Daiquiri and a Margarita. The drinks were a little more expensive than some places (130 pesos for a margarita and 90 pesos for the daiquiri) but were good and I loved the swing!
Matteos has a three tiered sunset lounge which (as it sounds) offers lovely views of the sunset over the jungle and they have a happy hour 241 between 5-7pm with a choice of beers or around 8 cocktails.
We had strawberry and basil mojitos and mango margaritas which were delicious. . It got busier around 6 – 6:30 so get there early for a good seat! Lovely staff and a good laid back vibe.
On the main avenue, we were attracted to this bar with a few tables outside. We sat at the bar for an hour having some happy hour cocktails at a very reasonably priced 99 pesos for two!
We had margaritas and mojitos and, as seems to be the general theme in Mexico, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Estancia Jujena also offers a range of food including pizzas from their wood stone ovens.
